Anthea Organics
Meet Anthea Organics, the Greek organic infusions’ company that utilises selected herb flowers and leaves in their entirety.
Discovery
Anthea Organics is another fortuitous discovery on our site as the producer, Eleonora Gouvaki, approached us with her premium teas.
This is a family business founded in Thessaloniki in 2017, which specializes in organic herbal infusions, to be enjoyed hot or cold.
The name Anthea was not selected randomly as it is one of the names given to the goddess Hera. It means flower in Greek, which perfectly suits the company’s products which are made from entire flowers and their leaves.
Eleonora sources her ingredients from selected farmers who harvest indigenous aromatic plants by hand: carob from Crete, mountain tea from mount Olympus, rose petals from Kozani and sage from Macedonia.
The ingredients are then shipped to their workshop in Thessaloniki where they wash, dry, combine and package them. The whole process is done manually so that the herbs’ intense aromas and therapeutic qualities remain intact.

For the creators of Anthea Organics, tea is not just a drink but the evoker of special moments spent with their loved ones. It is these images, combined with Eleonora’s love and respect for mother nature, that led to the birth of this company.
A Magic Cabinet has chosen the following teas for its store: rose petal, mint, lemon verbena and mountain tea, as well as two blends: energy and detox, which has already been awarded three Great Taste stars.
Anthea products are exported to England, Finland, Austria, Germany and soon to Japan.
Memory
Eleonora studied Business Management in Thessaloniki and worked for various major companies.
Her love of herbs is rooted in her childhood, when herbal teas were always part of her daily life.
Her hikes around the Greek countryside engendered a professional interest in aromatic herbs, which led to a botany seminar at the University of Thessaloniki and her acquaintances with many experts in the field. She then travelled around the country in order to find the best plant producers, before launching her business.
Her first products hit the shelves in 2018.

Narration
Anthea Organics is a small company, employing three people, based in Fragomachalas in the centre of Thessaloniki, a busy commercial district full of herb stores and old mansion houses. The most impressive building is the National Conservatory, which housed the Ottoman Bank up to 1949 and has survived a number of attacks over the years.
Εleonora draws inspiration from nature and traditional Greek herbal recipes. She prefers cold tea because the blends become subtler due to the slow brewing process.
She finds the process of choosing the plants and highlighting their qualities very exciting. She has a double role: convincing Greeks to drink tea and international customers to recognise that Greek herbs are some of the best in the world. Her international colleagues always attest to that after they’re tried them.
«Young people are more interested in healthy living thus herbal blends are becoming popular with that generation», Eleonora says.

The first product she created was her detox tea and, she was so excited, that she kept inviting friends over to try it for themselves.
Eleonora and her team will soon be launching her products in tea bags also.
