Magnolia is an ancient plant family predating bees. Its large and lustrous white flowers have developed to encourage cross-pollination by beetles. It is commonly used in fragrance making while the essential oil is well known for its relaxing qualities.
Meet Misa, the natural cosmetics, candle and home fragrance company from Greece. Get ready to be mesmerized by their tempting aromas and refined design aesthetic.
Misa is yet another fortuitous case where the producer connected us suggesting his premium products. Once I took them home and allowed their scent to waft through my house, I was completely won over.
Misa is a Greek premium home fragrance and cosmetics’ company, founded by Paschalis Mintsioudis in Thessaloniki in October 2018.
Misa products are free of parabens, formaldehyde and allergens and are not tested on animals. The alcohol fragrances are naturally derived from sugar cane and accredited by IFRA, the International Fragrance Association.
At A Magic Cabinet, we have chosen an oud scented candle and a diffuser, a magnolia and tuberose home fragrance diffuser and candle, a caramelised vanilla candle and a musk home diffuser as well.
Paschalis and his team are inspired, create and design the products in Greece which are then manufactured in Italy. Misa refers to its products as “Body and Soul” as their aromas awaken and soothe all the senses and their containers have a sophisticated but simple elegance.

For Paschalis the packaging is very important. The candles are placed into glass receptacles of amber, black or opaque white glass and capped with a wooden disk. The brown card boxes are stamped with Misa’s logo, a circle subdivided by fine lines reflecting the harmony of its pure ingredients. The diffusers’ bottle bear the same pale coral stamp and come in matte black, white or turquoise.
Misa also produces shower gels, pillow mists and other deliciously scented products.
Paschalis was always passionate about home decor and natural cosmetics, even though he studied agronomy. He turned his dream into a reality a year ago, when he launched Misa. He wanted to make exceptional products, which would grace a home interior but he initially struggled to find suppliers who really understood his vision. When he finally received the prototypes though, they were more beautiful that he had ever imagined.
The first two collections were entirely of his own design. After that, he and his team decided to publish a questionnaire on their social media channels, where they asked their customers about which fragrances they’d like to see on the market. These days every collection is based on client feedback and architectural and interior design trends which Paschalis follows closely.
Misa is currently run by three people in the district of Nea Politia Evosmou in Thessaloniki and the company has plans to grow.
Paschalis and his team monitor each product launch so that it meets their high standards. What they love the most though is getting positive feedback from repeat customers.
Oud, otherwise known as liquid gold, is one of the most luxurious stabilisers used in fragrance production. It’s an aromatic resin from the Aquilara Crassna tree, native to Southeast Asia and New Guinea. Oud is produced when the tree is trying to expel a parasite. These very specific conditions make this resin so rare. Oud has a sweet and warm aroma, mixed with notes of wood. In India it’s widely used during meditation and for enhancing clarity of mind.
